Speech-language pathology, audiology, and normal aspects of communication
Welcome to the undergraduate students’ section of the UW-Madison Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders Web site. We appreciate your interest in our major.
Students who major in communicative disorders study speech-language pathology, audiology, and the normal aspects of speech, hearing, and language. In addition, we offer labs for training and research in speech, language, and hearing science as well as speech, language, and hearing disorders.
There are two paths to the major:
- The major in the College of Letters & Science leads to the B.A. or B.S. degree.
- The major in the School of Education leads to the B.S. degree.
You must choose one path to follow. Each path has somewhat different requirements for the major and for the undergraduate degree.
Our department is accredited in speech-language pathology and in audiology by the Council on Academic Accreditation of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
If you have questions about our program not answered on this or related pages, please make an arrangement to speak with an undergraduate academic advisor, either face-to-face or by phone.
