Our Mission
We want to know how language-learning skills change throughout the lifespan and how different types of learning interact in the course of linguistic and cognitive development. With this general goal in mind, we aim to discover what helps children learn their first and second languages, and what helps adults learn a second and possibly a third language. Our work examines how children and adults learn new words, how bilingualism influences children's and adults' ability to acquire new linguistic and non-linguistic information, and how reading and speaking interact in development.
