Interests

Throughout her career Mary has worked with children and adults with language learning disabilities.  Her recent focus is the assessment of adults, mainly university students, with language learning difficulties.  In the recent past in conjunction with the Department of Psychology, she has been involved in the assessment of children adopted from Russia and Romania.  In addition to assessment Mary has worked in treatment programs with children and adults with language learning disorders.  She spent her beginning years in the Department of Communicative Disorders working with preschool children in language stimulation programs

In her role of clinic coordinator Mary works actively with first year masters' students, probing their clinical interests and getting them scheduled in practicums at the UW Speech and Hearing Clinic.  When students are in the second year of their masters' program and are taking practicum in school and medical sites, Mary monitors the clinical tracking of these students and their experiences in specific disorder areas.
